NOTICE

Dear Member,

The Council of the Medical Board notes the articles in the Trinidad Express newspaper published on the 25th & 26th February, 2024 and takes the allegations of Financial Impropriety quite seriously. Especially as it relates to the activities of the Body responsible for the regulation of medical practitioners.

By way of reminder, at the Annual General Meeting of 2023 the Board approved the procurement of a financial audit into the accounts of the MBTT in keeping with leading practices. With the addition of new Council Members including newly elected members and the new representatives from the Law Association of T&T and ICATT, it was identified that several Policies and Procedures required review and revision, and consequential recommendations were accordingly made.

As such, the Council has taken those recommendation on board and taken several steps. As a matter of priority the Council is in the process of performing a comprehensive review and seek, via open tender, an Auditing Firm to perform a forensic audit and an audit of existing policies and procedures to comply with leading practices.

The issues highlighted will be addressed at the upcoming Annual General Meeting in March 2024 where there will be an opportunity to address the Council.

Further updates will be provided in due course.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Ian Ramnarine
